Hello people that might be reading this thread!

I am a current student at Phillips Exeter Academy. I am not a frequent visitor of this site, but I remember scrambling around, and trying to find out as much as possible about this school. So now that I made it (well partly, I still have 4 more years to go), I wanted to help you guys out. Now most of the posts you will see might be by alumni that want to give advice, or parents who have children that go here. I want to provide a personal and current Q and A session. So please feel free to ask any questions you have about admissions, school life, stereotypes, etc. Again this is a stress free thread so ask away!!

What do you think is the most important part of admissions?

I believe that the most important part of admissions is allowing Exeter to know who you truly are. Although we are very academic oriented, Exeter likes people who can do other things. For example, there are many people here who hate math, but can play the violin really well. So when you are applying, try and focus on the essay. The essay is the place where you can express yourself. Hope that helped!

Hi, I’m about to have my interview and I was wondering if you have some tips? Also I heard that the school was a little overcrowd and I wanted to know if that was true.

Hey joyverga,

So I hope that your interview went well, but in all cases involving Exeter admissions the best choice is to be yourself. Exeter is not always the best school for everyone, so if you pretend to do certain things or “impress” the admissions people, life could get hard. However, if you portrayed your true self in the interview and expressed everything you wanted to, then you should be fine. Exeter likes individuals, not the next 2400 SAT score kid. Finally as far as being over crowded, I can’t say i notice it. Everyone is close to each other and friendly. You will see faces around campus often and know them by name. I wish you the best of luck! I have class in 10 min haha.
