Life at Trinity University

I know this sounds petty, but how would you describe the atmosphere of San Antonio and the people at Trinity? I suppose that I'd be most aptly described the "hippie-type", and I'm not sure of how well I would take to living in the area.
It pains me to ask for such rudimentary generalizations, and to label myself with one, but I am incredibly unsure of whether Trinity would be a good fit.

Thank you :)

We have a Freshman at TU, and I asked him last night about your post. He said that there are all kinds of kids at Trinity. One thing he particularly likes is that they’re also from all over the country, and the world…His eyes have really been opened this year, and we couldn’t be happier with Trinity and what he’s getting out of it. One thing he said the students all have in common is “they’re ALL smart”. That’s the environment we wanted him to be in and he’s had to step up to the demands of the workload and college life in general. Good luck with your college search. We recommend visiting and maybe staying over for a night. Our son actually visited three times and got a vibe about it that he didn’t get at the MANY other colleges that we visited.

Trinity is big enough for people to find their group. As far as San Antonio goes, even though it’s known for the military presence, it is the 7th largest city in the nation and has just about every group you can think of. It’s a lot closer to Austin in terms of culture than DFW.

Hi Courtney
my son is finishing his freshman year at trinity
he is a southern california boy who was raised by “hippie parents” attended developmental free spirited schools with curriculms that included camping and gourd making-how hippie is that
we all had reservations about trinity and texas, the decision was gut wrenching as he was accepted to many great schools
it was only after his visit that he felt trinity might work for him, small school, larger campus, great open spaces
he has had a great year
meet great people
great professors
he even went backpacking with an organizied trinity outdoor recreation group over thanksgiving, 32 miles in 4 days
you can find your peace anywhere if you are open to meeting people like and unlike you
best of luck
