Looking into Trinity University

Someone recently suggested that I look into Trinity University and from going to the website and reading student reviews it seems like a nice place. Are the dorms really as nice as everyone says? How is the food? What is the core curriculum like? Is the transportation alright? Also, can anyone tell me what the town of San Antonio is like? I live in Sandpoint Idaho and have never been to Texas. Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

Sent you a PM.

Have you been to campus? It sounds like you’re from Texas, are you? How would you compare Trinity to the other colleges you mentioned? The people at Trinity have been so helpful with everything especially Marisa. It’s one of the things that has really bumped Trinity into my top three.

My son is also looking at Trinity at the suggestion of his counselor. We are from No Cal & he wants to go to school out of state. Rice and Notre Dame were good fits, but his grades have dropped Jr year and they are now out of the running. Any thoughts on Trinity would be appreciated.

um, this thread is 18 mos old and didn’t get much attention even back then. You might want to try starting a new one. Trinity’s a great school, imo.

My son will be attending Trinity. We are from Texas and my son visited Purdue / UT / A&M / Rice / SMU and Trinity. He also applied to USC but never visited. We tried to get him interested in NE schools but to no avail. You can find out a lot online so I will just tell you some things that impressed us from our Trinity visits. The campus and dorms are very nice. Trinity is not a conventional campus (no large columned buildings set on quads) but its buildings are very handsome and very well integrated with the grounds. O’Neil Ford did most of the design, and there is a wonderful Henry Moore sculpture on the grounds([The Tower and the Henry Moore | Flickr - Photo Sharing!](The Tower and the Henry Moore | Tower by O'Niel Ford. Sculpt… | Flickr)). The faculty are extremely accessible. We spent two hours with the chairman of the computer science department, and there were never more than about 15 people present. During one of the tour’s breakout sessions (academic advising I think) they stressed that all the advisers are professors and all professors advisers. The student is assigned to a professor and that professor will help them throughout their time at Trinity to figure out the best major/classes/professors etc… In addition the professor/adviser works with the resident mentor (older student in the dorm) to make sure the student is doing well and there are no health / social issues. Trinity has a tremendous sense of pride and community. My son likes the idea of being on a beautiful campus, but having the activities of a big city available. Lastly we found it to be a good deal - Trinity has a good endowment and awards quite a few scholarships. Hope this helps.
