<p>As far as partying goes:</p>
<p>You certainly can escape it if you choose! As a freshman you can opt to live in a substance free or honors hall, which will give you the option of living with people who may be like minded to yourself. All halls, even non-themed halls, host alternative programs and activities like open mic nights, board game nights, movie nights, etc. We also have downtown santa barbara which is a great place to shop, see a movie or just hang out on a Friday night. The campus is always hosting cool movie screenings, concerts/shows, and other activities like improv shows or what-have-you.</p>
<p>Don’t be fooled by our reputation. We aren’t all crazy party-hardys. And some of the people I have seen as crazy party-hardys on the weekend are also taking 18 unit loads with the honors program or the college of engineering, who turned down schools like Berkeley or LA. Finding time and space to study isn’t difficult; the majority of us are here for an education. You’ll find a niche no matter what kind of person you are.</p>
