Life in AP Gov?

I’m a rising sophomore who is taking AP Gov this next year. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about it, in terms of homework assigned per night. I know it’s different per teacher, but what was your experience? Thanks!
Also, AP Gov is like the only class a sophomore can take (aside from APUSH and AP Music Theory. I plan on taking APUSH junior)

@MPC6789 AP Gov is a joke. The % of 5s was low this year (9.8%), but nearly everyone in my class got a 5. My teacher gave a lot of homework from the hated “Wilson” textbook and worked us a lot harder than necessary, but in the end, we all came out of the testing room confident that we got 5s.

@EIC2400 Okay, what did you do to prepare for the exam?

@MPC6789 I’ll be very honest that I did not start studying until the afternoon before the exam. I had AP Bio that morning and after Bio, I went to my local library, did some practice questions in a Princeton Review book and read through some chapters that afternoon. That earned me a 5.

@EIC2400 would you say the review questions in the book were comparable to the actual exam?

Lol my AP govt class was REALLY tough! My teacher is notorious for having difficult tests and he sure lived up to it! I didn’t always have homework each night (when I did it wasn’t that hard - just had to search for answers in the textbook), but I made sure to read the chapters, which took a decent amount of time! But if you cannot (some are like 60 pages!) then just type in the chapter # and title and AP govt, into google, and an outline of each chapter with mock test Qs will come up!

I worked really hard in that class because I enjoyed it and got a 5 on the exam. I just read the Princeton Review book about 1.5 weeks before. I went over it reading one to two chapters a day for a week, then the half week before the test I reread them and took the tests in the back! It helped a lot! I wouldn’t focus on the textbook too much for the exam, PR had everything I needed!

And it wasn’t directed at me, but the review Qs in PR were definitely comparable to the exam! I really enjoyed the class tho, and as long as you read into concepts and the history, then you shouldn’t find it too boring, but it can be dry at times.

Anyways, I hoped this helped!! good luck!

@MPC6789 As @JeanJacket123 said, they were. It’s not a tough exam and if you love politics, you’ll learn a lot and love the course!

At my high school, I was a Senior and AP Government was a treat because the teacher treated us like college students and assigned readings and no homework. With Senioritis kicking in, you sit back and listen to the lectures and stop taking notes. Still got an A – thank you online resources to speed up studying
