I’m planning on applying to my first choice (Brown) ED, but I am somewhat behind on essays, and I would like to have as much time as possible to edit my application before I submit it.
I have heard horror stories about portals crashing on the application due date, and I’m wondering what the likelihood of being unable to submit my application if I wait until October 31/November 1. Also if the portal does crash, will applicants be given an extra day?
Slim to none. The Common App site is more likely to crash on 12/31 (which I don’t think will happen either). The volume of applications on 11/1 vs. 1/1 is but a fraction.
Of course. That said, planning for that is not a good strategy. It’s like praying for a snow day to get out of an English exam.
It happens. You are taking your chances. It can be a real headache – the portals are usually setupnto not accept the apps after the deadline. You might be able to contact the school to get them to takebit late in that situation.
I completely disagree with the assessment of “slim to none” I would say it is at least “reasonably possible”
Yeah, I gave too narrow a band. But I stand by my counsel to not plan for that happening.
