Didn’t have an interview and got a likely. Who knows, doubt there’s any alumni in my area.

Had interview & got likely. Also got the video chat invite but I don’t think I can make it :(

Please Help!

My D is home on Spring break from her boarding school. She just got an email from Dartmouth this morning. Below is a portion of the email. We were puzzled by it. We think (OK, maybe a bit wishfully, :-)) that this sounds like a “Likely.” Is it possible the paper Likely letter from AO arrived at her mailbox in her school after she has gone home? And is this email a follow-up?

For those who have received your Likely, could you please verify if the wordings in my attachment below is identical to your follow-up email from Dartmouth for the video chat?

Subject: Special Dartmouth Video Chat

Dear …,

The Dartmouth Admissions Office has been impressed with your application and we would like to invite you to a special Dartmouth video chat on Tuesday, March 22nd at 6:00 PM Eastern Time.

Current Dartmouth students are eager to chat with you about life at the College. They will be able to answer your questions and tell you about our Dimensions of Dartmouth visitation program. If you’d like, you can register now to attend Dimensions.
…

By the way, thanks in advance for your comments. Her school is in West Coast, and it’s going to be another week before she goes back to check her mail box. The suspense is getting a bit too much, :-(.

Tell her to try login into the admitted students site. If she can, then she got a likely! :)

Thanks. I think that she can log into some list/Directory/Facebook for Class of 2015, but it’s not explicitly an “admitted students site” as you mentioned.

If she can get into the directory and was allowed to join the Facebook group, she’s in. Congrats!

Yes and the video chat appears to be for likely letter recipients only. So congrats.

Thanks, and Congrats to you as well! This is certainly great news.

So, Aniger, did you you see similar wordings in the email your son got?

I’m in edmonton, do international students get likely letters?

Yes fireworks, this is the exact wording from my son’s email, we will likely be attending all or part of the dimensions, the admitted student days to check it out, we did not visit before applying. Still waiting for other march 30 results of course. But just thrilled about this.

“This makes me feel much more secure!”

I was surprised when I saw the date (Nov 1, 2011)I didn’t realize ED applicants got “likely letters”–my daughter got her app in just before the Nov 1 deadline and just had her alumni interview today (Nov 6)—how long have you had your app in? Did you get an opportunity to interview? Thanks—and congrats!

Also, did it come via email or in a letter? Thanks again

MeisterRama is a recruited athlete. 'Nuf said. :)

Yes, I am a recruited athlete. I was asked to get my ED application in by Oct. 1. I received a likely letter first by email (Halloween 2011), and received the same letter in the mail on Nov. 3.

Why would they need to send you a likely letter when ED is already binding. I call BS.

Sent from my LG-P509 using CC App

Welcome to the world of recruited athletes.

“Why would they need to send you a likely letter when ED is already binding”

Because that’s the student’s promise from the school. What if he/she DIDN’T get the likely letter? Decisions for ED students don’t come out until mid December. If I were an athlete, I’d wonder if the college was serious about me or not.
