The site says that they give 10-15 scholarships (full or partial) for internationals a year :( the fact speaks for itself.. Do you consider applying for any outside scholarships?

Way to encourage me surfin, ^^. Just kidding... but maybe they send likely letters to all those internationals who will get finaid?

... this is so wierd. i thought they gave 100% of required aid to internationals because they are need-blind? :S

and also by scholarships surfin, do you mean aid or is that completely separate?

They are not need-blind for internationals but I thought that they will reject more students for financial matters.. Not accept and then give no aid.
Cynical, They say scholarships ( http://www.isso.cornell.edu/students/aid.php )
But as even the partial scholarships are no more than 15 it is too bad..

pearfire, I doubt it .. but I actually know absolutely nothing so dont be discouraged by what I say :D
Do you think that we should e-mail and ask them? I mean, if we want to search for outside scholarships we need to have enough time.

wow...... that...... sucks.......................... id rather get rejected ._.

If some international applicants have not received any likely letters, it means not chance? or still they could receive offers in the early April?

cynical, i think whatthey are saying apply to real international students, not canadian or mexian students.

ah... that makes sense haha. but still... ive heard from so many canadian friends that their FA grants were so bad that they couldn't attend.

Only a small percentage of those admitted have recieved likely letters. So yes, there is still a chance that you could recieve an admission offer... Not in early april, though... the decision is on the 29th...

I applied for like 96% aid lol... Last year, this kid from my school got in but was only offered $10,000 in aid... The year before that, however, this girl from my school got a 95% aid offer from Cornell... So I think even as 'real' internationals, there is a chance that we might get a sufficient amount of aid...

Just got a likely today. This and Duke, life is good :)

ah so there's still hope! :)

Does anyone know how many or what percentage of the applicants get likely letters? Thanks.

Are you a URM? And which Cornell school did you apply to?

Apparently, they go to some URMs and international students, which I would guess is like 10%-ish of students?

As I had posted on another thread, some NYS Caucasian students received letters and phone calls from Human Ecology. Has anyone asked their GC what their experience has been with these early nods?

surfin, if you decide to call the finaid office about our question, please let me know when you get an answer. We can still ask them when we have this webcam thing for international students in early April, though. My guess is that they send likely letters to the top international students, and I guess we're more likely got get a finaid package as the regular admits. But oh well,, we'll know in less than 2 weeks.

lol two more applicants from my school got likely letters... three from the same school lol... and these are supposed to be ' a fraction of those offered admission '

I got a likely letter today too!!! (Engineering) And I'm a finalist for the John McMullen Dean's Scholar award!!! :)

So this girl from my school apparently got a likely letter for cas...she's a urm, but only takes one ap class and plays basketball, but is not good enough to get recruited. Her grades are so-so, like low 90's and her sats are in Cornell's range, but on its lower end.. So does that mean that they send out likely letters to all urms who got in, or just the top ones, because, as far as I know, she never did anything all that remarkable.

given the overall lateness that the likely letters have been handed out, I would say that I wouldn't be suprised if they went to all the internationals who were not 'borderline' You can't really just assume that they go to a 'tiny fraction' as every school does it differently, every year.
