They only sending that particular likely letter to 50 minority students. There are many more who get in and never receive a letter. I’m also not sure if they consider Asian as one of their targeted minorities. I wouldn’t be too worried.

Those who received this letter are in fact ACCEPTED! =D Congratulations!

Those who haven’t received this letter yet, IT’S OKAY! As they look through the applicant pool, it goes through some stages. a few Hard acceptance, a few hard rejection, and the maybes go off into another pile and they review that Again and repeat the process. Those who got the letter were simply picked out first. After the first few stages they collected the minorities in the ACCEPTED pile, and sent them the email.

OTHER MINORITIES STILL EXIST IN THAT “MAYBE” PILE!
THey haven’t finished picking their class, not yet. Decisions go out April 1st. The lady I spoke with said they have stopped going through the admitted pile and sending out emails, and they will simply sent an email to all the minorities who were accepted and didn’t get it already on April 1st.

I’m Asian going for Engineering and I got the likely letter yesterday. So I don’t think it’s targeted to only minorities since well I highly doubt Asians are considered minorities especially in a school like Cornell.

morrieXD: Are you a girl or guy, because there are two types of likelies that I have heard of. One for women in engineering and one for minorities, and I saw that you posted on the SWE thread as well. Because ciaobella! isn’t applying to Engineering, they wouldn’t get the women in engineering one, so the only option would be the general minorities one.

i’m a girl going for engineering. but i believe there is another post stating that there is indeed a white male who received a likely letter not this year but some years before.
