Congrats @digony. Would you mind sharing your stats? do you have hooks? (like URM)
Is anyone who received a likely on this thread going to the Columbia Days on Campus 2?
I just received a likely letter via email and I put my majors as Classical Studies, English, and Business, if that kinda answers your question. Does this mean I have a really good chance of being accepted? At first I thought it was an acceptance email haha.
I just got one at 3pm Pst today! Applicant to the college
Yes @scant42, you are in, barring anything such as committing a felony. Congratulations to you and the other likelies.
I received a likely yesterday and I also put my primary major as Classics and as majors 2 & 3 I put History and Ancient Studies.( I am international. )
I was so shocked upon receiving the email as I remember that I had a small typo in my supplement and I went crazy over that.
Congratulations to everyone who got one!
How many people get likely letters? I got one yesterday and I’m wondering if everyone who got accepted got one or only like the top of the pool.
@brovakiin I got one too. I heard they only give likely letters to 8-10% of the applicants they accept, so I think it’s the top of the pool.
@green678 Thanks! Well, I am beyond ecstatic now…
Got a likely too! Intended CS major at CC. Very excited and surprised!
Thanks! Stats (not used to the formatting, sorry)
SAT- 2210 (690 Writing, 720 reading, 800 math)
ACT- 34 composite

I received the physical copy of my Likely Letter in the mail today and noticed that the header says “The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science.” This is a little confusing considering that I put my intended major as Classical Studies… unless that suddenly became an applied science haha. Does that mean anything?
@scant42 that means that you applied to SEAS, not the college… you might want to get in touch with Columbia resolve that (you checked the wrong box on the common app).
@scant42 - are you sure it doesn’t say “Columbia College” underneath? I thought my letter was from the engineering school at first, too, until I noticed that it listed both schools in the header.
"Dear Sean,
I am delighted to inform you that your application to Columbia University has been carefully evaluated and that you have earned designation as a likely candidate for admission to Columbia College…"
I don’t have my letter in front of me but this is quoted from the email, so I think everything is alright. @Ostinato1689 The header may have stated both colleges (I’ll check when I get home) but I definitely do not remember seeing anything about Engineering in the body of the letter. Thank you guys
I got a likely as well around the 5th? I’m columbia college totally surprised considering I submitted my supplement over a month late because I was unsure of if I was going to get in or not and was busy… Very glad to be in though test score wise I’m avg with a 2030/31(32 superscored) so I didn’t think I was competitive anywhere
At least one student from my son’s school got a likely letter from Columbia last week. That student plans to major in STEM. (There’s another student who got a likely letter to somewhere, but hasn’t confirmed whether or not it’s Columbia).
I am a non-stem, non-athlete applicant from Azerbaijan and I received a likely letter. So yes (:
you ARE from Azerbaijan, that itself merits a likely
