Austria-skiing. WOW!!! I'm getting soooooooooooo jealous.

yeah it's pretty cool but it's only about a 5 hours drive from where I live so I guess it's not as a big a deal as if I were flying in from the US or something like that.

Even the great holiday can't take off the stress yeah?
I am driving myself crazy these past few weeks. I have gotten in anywhere yet.

I agree! The weather's great and I should be relaxing but all I can think about is the possibility that there might, just might, be a likely letter somewhere in the international post. Getting one from one of my favourite schools would cancel out the stress of the past few months. I've gotten into McGill and St Andrews which are great schools but they just don't appeal to me as much as Amherst does.

Good luck everyone!

Gosh, every time I see that this thread has new posts, I think Oh no! Likely letters have been sent out!. haha.

Same here Kristina :)

Sounds like really cool, pirate! I'm going away for a week too on Saturday, though I'd prefer to stay home, where the postman can find me ;)

I survived today and yesterday watching Champions League games. Good soccer days definitely, though I expected a bit more from some teams...

Anyone a soccer fan?

hahaha I do the exact same thing Kristina!

I like playing soccer but I have to admit that I really don't know anything about the Champions League and stuff like that. I just hear people talking about Chelsea and I nod and smile :)

does anyone know the song "Hey Mr. Postman.... have you got a letter for me?" It's a real oldie but somehow it fits our situation pretty well :)

I only got to watch the Chelsea game, the disappointing game you might be referring to.:( I missed the Manchester United and the Barcelona games. :(:( I'm a real fan of ManU as well as Messi from Barca.

haha cool. It's pretty funny for me to see people getting really upset when certain teams lose because I've never really supported a professional sports team before but it's fun seeing all the soccer fans running around the city at night singing their team songs and stuff like that. When the World Cup was on they put up a massive screen in the main square and it was really cool to go there and watch the games.

I was expecting excellent games but was rather disappointed, especially with Arsenal-Milan (a specially interesting match because both teams are great, but Arsenal is full with very young players and Milan with veterans) and Liverpool-Inter. I'm rooting for Inter because the best Honduran soccer player plays there, though I'm not particularly fond of him because whenever we call him to play for our national team he says he's injured... :S

It's the great thing about sports, and soccer is the most played sport in the world. I'm not a big fan of any club, just of our national team, and when we play the whole country paralyzes and everyone's watching TV. It's great ;)

What position do you like to play pirate?

I play center midfield - I was captain of our team this year and we're good for a small international school but we just can't compare to bigger teams in the US. Girls soccer is not nearly as popular here as it is in North America.

Yeah I love when the national teams play each other! So do you play soccer? Do you say football or soccer? I use them interchangeably since all my British/European friends get really upset when i call it 'soccer', lol.

So do you play football? If so, what position?

Yeah I played for my high school team and we were very successful :D

But even though almost every Latin American country is very "futbolero" and Honduras is not an exception, we were not very organized and I'm sure I'm not good enough to play at a university level. Apparently sports are taken really seriously in the US unlike here where everything is rather informal...

I like to play as a defensive midfielder, and I was team captain too. Now I only play every Sunday, when I get together with friends. I miss playing more though.

We call it "fútbol" in Spanish. In English I'm more used to saying soccer because of the strength of American culture in our own. I don't mind saying football though : )

By the way, if I recall you're half Canadian?

If everything goes as it should, Honduras will be facing Canada along with Mexico and Jamaica for the next World Cup qualifiers. Last qualifiers we were also on the same group and we tied 1-1 in Canada and Honduras, I think.

Yup, I'm half Canadian. I have a feeling Honduras will beat Canada since our national team isn't usually very good :( I'm not sure why that is since they have incredible youth soccer programs and there are tons of local teams.

Yeah, I miss playing too! Since it's winter I've been playing a bit of indoor soccer but I don't like it nearly as much as playing outdoors. That's probably because we play in our gym which is really stuffy and has a bad surface.

Who knows, maybe we'll wind up watching the game together =P And don't worry, though Honduras has some good players we usually fail in accomplishing our big goals.

I'm actually more used to playing in small, artificial grass fields. We call it "futbolito."

I'm leaving for a week tomorrow (actually in about 8 hours) so my Internet time will be scarce. If any of you gets an EW please let me know!

we will :) yeah i don't mind playing on artificial grass but our gym floor is made of wood and the ball bounces really weirdly on it. How cool would it be to be able to actually watch the game together! Enjoy your vacation!

I missed you guys and my unhealthy CC addiction, seriously! EWs, don't want to think about that, ahhh! CC has given me a major inferiority complex, or atleast compounded the effect innate in the app process!

Likely letters out there? From where? When?

hopefullyblue....not yet. in past years amherst has sent out early acceptances, around march 1st i believe...search for old posts. we're just anticipating and biting our nails :-P
