I got a PM asking for my stats, so after writing them all up I figured I might as well post them here, too. I don't really understand why I got a likely/got in at all - I keep thinking, What if they sent the letter to me by mistake? and I get a thin envelope on April 1... Maybe I just worry too much.

Anyway, here they are:

1490 (800v but 690m)
800wr/780miic/740ushist
4.1 w, 3.9ish uw - probably should calculate it one of these days
5's on the two AP exams I took last year, taking 4 APs this year
I was proud of my main essay as I had been working on it for two years. BUT, it was about my experiences on cross-country kind of a clichéd topic, although I approached it from a fresh angle.
My peer rec was amaaazing, but then again, whose friend wouldnt write a great rec? I guess the best thing about it was that it was really honest, and obviously so, while spinning my faults (sarcasm) into positives (wittiness). And it was funny - yay for friends who are talented at written humor. :)
My teacher recs were all good, with one outstanding one that I know of. I sent three in at the same time as my app from my junior year teachers (AP Lang, AP US, and my journalism adviser), and then sent in another one from a senior year teacher (AP Euro) in January after I was deferred ED from Princeton. My XC/track coach also wrote me a rec. Extracurriculars: captain of 100 girl XC team (and of track team but notified of too late to count for admissions), managing editor of nationally-recognized weekly student newspaper, written submissions editor for schools literary magazine, Girl Scout silver award + troop secretary, on regional planning committee for the Metro-Detroit Girl Scout council, Mackinac Island Governors Honor Guard (another selective Girl Scout volunteer activity... also had a leadership position for it), and the typical volunteering at a childrens track camp and at an arts camp for inner-city children sort of things. Awards: 8 varsity letters for track and XC, Various athletic and academic-athletic awards from our running conference/state meet/etc., National Council of Teachers of English recognition, some writing and photography/illustration awards minor local things, Michigan Scholastic Press Association award for journalistic piece, and National Merit Finalist.

i am so glad for you, really. esp. after i stalkingly read the ED Princeton boards - honestly, you shouldn't doubt your acceptance. you've done a lot.

just a quick question though - your school doesn't rank, yes, but have you any idea, an approximation of what percent you're in? top 5, 10, 20?

Thanks for the reassurance, bluirinka - it's funny that you secretly read the ED Princeton board; funnily enough I read Yale's in the same manner. I think my doubt stems from that it seems surreal and random to get accepted to Dartmouth, much less to receive notification in an inconspicuously thin March envelope. rolls eyes apologetically But anyway, I am definitely in the top 5% at my school. If we ranked I would be in the group of students duking it out for valedictorian, which is why I am quite glad that we don't (and thus we can share notes, help each other out, etc.).

I'm so excited! After my deferral from Harvard, this likely (along with acceptances from Williams and Amherst) really lifted my spirits.

Felt great to get something in the mail from Dartmouth after dreaming of going to such a school for years.
Essay was decent; recs, good, I hope...; Unfortunately I think it's my stats that got me in. So it goes...

I'm not too crazy about posting stats (I don't want to sound too braggy and what not), but i hope this will be helpful to some of you and future Darmouth hopefuls!

essay: I can't really judge my own writing, but my english teacher said it was very personal.
recs: good (one outstanding letter from my GC)

I go to a small, non-competitive public school in NJ that doesn't send too many kids to ivy's each year, so the letter was very unexpected. I recieved the letter on the 11th, and previous to the letter, I got an e-mail about the Dimensions on the 9th.

Everyone that's waiting for the likely or the big A, don't lose hope!
i'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you guys!!! :-D

--Founded "e-Len Designs"--organization that makes websites for good causes. Have designed websites for Long Beach Chapter of the National Organization for Women, several teachers at my school, a beginning entrepreneur, and a local preschool. I also taught the secretary at my school how to use Photoshop, and now school documents look much more professional. I also helped her improve the design of the school website--better design better for recruitment (private school).
