Has/does Brown send out likely letters? No one I know that applied has gotten one, and I couldn’t find anything about it in the forum.

Yes they do. They give likely letters for PLME as well (not only “regular” acceptances). Very rare to get one though. I actually don’t know anyone that has gotten a likely letter except for my val (who ended up going to Rice) and i go to the school…

Brown does send out likely letters, but most of them are for athletic recruits. They’re not that common.

They do, but you have to be a pretty special snowflake or especially talented athlete to receive one. Not sure when they are sent though.

Don’t fret if you don’t get one. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not getting in.

“It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not getting in.” That’s an understatement. The overwhelming majority of admittees never see a Brown Likely Letter.

I don’t think that there is any specific timetable for sending Likely Letters. Obviously, any ED applicants would have received them in the autumn. My daughter, who is RD, received one in mid-January.

Is your daughter an athlete? Or was it an academic?

Ivy Agreement says Likely Letters can be sent in the window of Oct 1 to March 15.

So I guess mine will be coming on Monday, what a relief :)

^^^My daughter is an athlete - her Likely Letter asked her (but did not require her to) withdraw all other college applications. There was a very quick turn around from the school’s receipt of her application to our receipt of her LL.

I received a likely letter today! I still am in shock of how many I’ve received. The Lord has Blessed me more than I could have ever imagined. All of the suspense has been taken away lol. The only college I haven’t heard from is Cornell, but that was at the end of my list anyways. Once again, put your faith in God! He will deliver.

I just received mine in the mail as well (not an athlete) I had no prior notice through e-mail, so I was shocked. I saw the pretty chocolate packaging and just thought I’d be reminded to submit all financial aid documents or something. Super happy XD

Congratulations to both of you ! Brown is an amazing school. What a blessing.

What states are you in Jannie132 and jgedwards11?

Thanks.

Thank you! I hail from hot and humid Miami, Florida. :P

Janine132, are you an athlete?

rkay - Athletes know that they’re getting letters (which is the most important part), so I’m going to guess that she’s academic. Congrats on the letters!! I’ll be seeing you guys next year… SO excited :)

I’m from Texas! And I run track, but I’m not good enough to be recruited for it. So I’m an academic likely. My stats are posted in the Likely Letter Stats thread in Harvard in case anyone was wondering.

You got a likely from harvard too…?!? That’s great! A girl from my school has one as well… she got it a few weeks ago. Apparently Harvard sends out less than 10 a year for academics - well done!

jgedwards11…Gosh, you are on every single forum thread I come across…each time proclaiming to have received ANOTHER likely letter. I am so overwhelmed with jealousy, since I applied to pretty much all the same schools and have not received likely letters like you have.

I just need to take a break from CC before I just about shrivel away from feelings of inadequacy.
