Likely Letters

@Iboss - Hahaha! I began the wordplay - “It’s very LIKELY that none of us will get a likely letter” :p

-- And HOW do you quote posts?? :open_mouth: —

@3chainz - Dartmouth’s probably has the best soccer team amongst the Ivies!! Or atleast that’s what they make it seem to be!! :D

How to quote

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/13889531-post1.html

Thank you!!

I read just the first page.
But this likely letter from Harvard that this guy i know, explicitly said that ‘You will be accepted to the Harvard class of 2017.’
So, that likely letter said that he was sure shot in and not just he “may” be accepted! :)

It differs from college to college. Mostly it’s you WILL be accepted. But sometimes it may say “We won’t guarantee anything, but you should get accepted” or something!! :)

Just google likely letters !! :p

^ That is probably the only place I’ll get to see one EVER!! Haha!! :D

I actually did, but fail.
Google had no Likely letters
There were some, but they were dated back to early 2000s

The only one I saw was that of Harvard. So. And only if I ever got one!

Historically speaking, when does Dartmouth send out likely letters?

Btw, I’m not gonna get worked up about this at all, that would drive me crazy lol, but I’m just curious…!

It should’ve been a long time ago like the 30th and 31st of January. I think the second wave should be around feb.16th

^but no one got any yet, seemingly…

so strange that they haven’t sent any out. o.o

Got a Likely/Definitely letter in snail mail today. I’m not a URM, legacy or recruited athlete there, FYI. I’m very touched but will not be taking the coveted spot (understandable cheers from you DC CCers  as I was accepted SCEA to my fave and didn’t do any more apps after that (though the Big Green was my #2 – it’s an amazing school!!!). Good luck to all of you for whom it’s your #1 – hang tight!

@tallgirl Congrats! What state are you in?

@tallgirl - Congrats!! I looked through your previous posts and it seems you were pretty interested in getting recruited to Harvard rowing?? Did you get recruited there??

Anyway, could you please post your basic stats so that we can know whom Dartmouth & possibly Harvard considers as a TOP applicant!! Thanks!! :)

rishav17: thank YOU  Note: I did NOT apply to DC as an athlete or meet with the coach, etc. DC does not field my kind of rowing boats so I did not go that route. As to my stats, i will just topline it with: top of my large competitive class with straight unweighted As in a dozen APs, perfect SAT/ACT/SAT2 scores, international/national/state academic awards, summer research at an Ivy for several years, Prez of clubs and a bunch of college academic enrichment type classes. Not a URM or legacy at any Ivy.

I genuinely wish everyone the best  I know it’s a very stressful time, please try to keep your peace. Signing off

@tallgirl - Ohh Great!!
After that brief - I think you made a good choice by not posting your stats fully, or we’d have some pretty depressed souls on this thread!! :p

Anyway Congratulations anyway!! :D

Hey tallgirl. What day is the letter postmarked?

got one today as a non-athlete recruit, non-legacy, ORM (aka hardmode)

^^ Congratulations! Maybe you could post your stats (and others who receive likely letters could do the same) so visitors can compare?

35 ACT, siemens semi, 10+ international awards for music, performed@Carnegie hall multiple times plus almost all the major cities and in 3 countries, state medalist in sport, never gotten a B, 13 AP classes, president of class and several clubs, uscho finalist, etc.
