Does not getting a likely letter mean you won’t be admitted? I heard a rumor that likely letters only go out to urm applicants… Is that true?
Thanks

Absolutely not. Nothing should be made of not receiving a likely letter.

No. I know of non-athlete, non-URM applicants who have received them.

No, and no.

About 200 students will get a likely letter out of ~2000 admitted students.

Those who do receive a likely are not necessarily URM. Likelies were originally for athletes, and they’ve expanded them to include extraordinary applicants.

^this, 90% of admitted students (i bet it’s even higher) don’t receive a likely.
