this is such a huge relief</p>
<p>for anyone who is wondering, after I was deferred I sent in a letter restating my interest in Dartmouth (and why I would be a good fit) as well as a extremely glowing, Dartmouth-specific rec from my Dartmouth alumni teacher. I also provided an update on recent achievements (though nothing particularly amazing, so it probably didn’t make too much of a difference).</p>
<p>tbh, I don’t really know why they would send me a LL, other than the possibility of them thinking something along the lines of what someone here said (“Why did we defer them/Need to sooth hurt ED feelings” etc). but at any rate I’m quite happy they did!</p>

<p>I got a likely letter last Friday but I’m hesitant to get my hopes up for other Ivy League schools, since a girl from my school also got one and she doesn’t have anything that stands out (as far as I know) - aside from being salutatorian and having okayish SAT scores. (We’re both Asian, haha) Also it seems as if Dartmouth sends significantly more likeliest than other schools and maybe they’re just nervous because their overall application numbers fell this year?</p>
