"likely" letters

Hey...I'm an RD applicant to Dartmouth and I was wondering...when do they send the "likely" letters to applicants?

Oh yea, and also, how much impact does the interview have on admission? Any tips from ED acceptees on interviews? What kind of questions do they ask? (hope u guys reply soon cuz my interview is on Jan 23rd...in less than a week!)

Thanks!

Yes, Dartmouth does send out Likely letters (in waves, if I remember correctly).

I'm not sure how much the interview counts for in admission... I haven't even been contacted to have an interview yet!

I asked the same question about likely letters and heard that they begin sending them early February and end mid-March. The order they send them is random, just based on which they read and which they're sure of. I'm by no means an acceptee (sadly, deferred, but still loyal), but I had my interview (in-school and alum) and really all you have to do is be comfortable talking about yourself. They want to know that you have a bunch of things going on that you really care about, and they're probably part of a small pool of people in this world that are paid to here about all the details. I'm not saying you should brag or feel like you're talking to your friends, but if you just calm yourself and think about what highlights really pinpoint your character, make sure to get those in and you're fine. Good luck in interviewing and admissions...

Truegibberish I had my interview at school also by an alum, my interviewer wrote all his questions for me on 2 sets of index cards one set for him and one set for me to organize my thoughts. He just asked me about my career plans, friends, books that I like and my ideal day and at the end he asked me what did I want him to ask me and that was the end. Like Truegibberish said just relax, dont brag, and have fun with it, show the interviewer the true you and why you like Dartmouth.

good advice. and interesting interview strategy with the index cards... I'll keep this in mind if I ever end up as the interviewer. Fortunately for mine, I'm extremely able to ramble about myself...for an hour. Now that's certainly nothing to brag about.

I had mine yesterday...im an int'l student in korea, and they guy was pretty friendly. the chances are he/she WILL ask "do you have any questions" at the end of the interview. ALWAYS SAY YES! ask some very pertinent and non-superficial qs, and show what YOU will contribute to dartmouth.

My interviewer was filling out this sheet called "Form 6" and was going down question by question. Some of them included: What classes are you taking this semester? What is your GPA/SAT scores? If you could, what type of books would you read more? What do you do outside of school (ecs)? How would a friend describe you? If I met one of your teachers on the street 10 years later, what would they remember about you? Stuff like that. Hope that helps.

Yale just sent a bunch. There were earliwer reorts but questionable...then in the last couple of days there were a number of believable ones.
