I think for athletes, they include the the “suggestion” that you maintain GPA and behavior, and get those scores in. They want to be sure they can renig on the offer in case the athlete goes too wild during the last semester.

@Bigmakk Thank you for confirmation the validity of my claim. Your letter is unique in the fact that they identified your SAT II tests as needing to be received. Otherwise, everything is the same.

I was surprised as well that the letter was less of a likely letter than Yale’s. It was more an offer of admission than anything else.

EDIT: would it be acceptable to post the letter or not? I have both the Yale and Harvard Likely letters sitting on my harddrive, I just don’t want to cause any trouble for myself by posting them. Can someone please confirm that it’s okay to post it? I’m just concerned since no one has really posted a likely letter, especially Harvard’s, on CC.

Dang congrats to all likelies! Just wondering…where do you guys live? My friend is hopelessly waiting for a likely letter in California. Also is it snail mail or email?
And cardsecret, I don’t see why you can’t post the likely letters…i’m sure people would love to see it and be awed :)

@cardsecret: I posted something somewhat similar to a likely letter that I got from MIT (but since MIT doesn’t do LLs, it was posted at EA decisions time) and an admissions officer was like “Oh no! Can you take it down?” But the edit limit had passed, and when I said I couldn’t he was cool with it (I did get a mod to remove it though). That’s my only experience with something even sort of like LLs. From having done that with MIT, I wouldn’t post an LL if I were lucky enough to get one, but they’re different schools and different sorts of letters.

Except that he has 1 post, so I don’t know how much weight his conformation holds.

@Millancad thanks so much for that. I’m so glad I consulted before posting :x

@jersey13 hahaha take it easy man he read the letter EXACTLY the way the letter was written to me. You don’t have to believe either of us…take anything that you hear on this forum with a grain of salt anyway

Would the people who got likely letters please post your statistics, etc.? Congratulations to all who have received likely letters; what a tremendous honor! I have not received a call to interview from anyone – Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford . . . I must be terrible that they do not even want to interview me . . . I come from a small town in North Carolina and have made straight A’s since kindergarten. What is discouraging is that you do everything possible but it’s still not good enough . . . Thanks and good luck to everyone . . .

@cardsecret: Your likely letter said you’ve already been admitted? Did you read it right? I swear that mine doesn’t say that.

@bugs: 2340 SAT (first score was high 2200), 2360 combined SATII, and I’m a recruited athlete

@bugsliberty, no calls to interview does not mean you are out of the running. it doesn’t mean anything except interviewers are not available in your area. don’t get too discouraged :)

Thank you diamonds and elephants . . . my basement flooded last week and we lost thousands of dollars at our house – I just think I am overwhelmed with everything right now . . . thanks for caring . . .

And for the record, I got contacted for an interview after receiving the likely. I suppose that goes to show that interviews are a bit useless.

@diamondsxxx “Cardsecret is correct. The Harvard Likely states “I am delighted to report that the Admissions Committe has asked me to inform you that we will offer you a formal letter of admission to the Class of 2014 on April 1.” I have it in my hand as I type ; I received mine today as I was recruited for a sport.”

^That’s what i meant by “accepted” my bad on the wording.

Haha yeah sorry that I only have one post, I usually just read through CC threads, never really felt compelled to make a profile. Just wanted to back up cardsecret when I saw people disbelieving the letter :)

Diamonds what is your letter like since it seems to be different?

10characters

Would the people who received likely letters please post what date you sent your applications in? Thanks :)

I sent my application in around the 23rd of dec?

@Diamondsxxx that’s definitely odd at the differences in the letters…doesn’t make much difference in my opinion however. (in regards to admission status)

just got a stanford likely letter…anyone have data on the amount of people who receive these?

Cardsecret…what did you do?? Are you an RSI-er or something?

Yeah, the believability of cardsecret’s posts have just dropped to nearly zero for me. The chances of getting one likely letter are extremely low. There must be 2,000 other people each applying to Harvard, Yale, and Stanford with the same or better stats. (1/2000)^3= 1/8,000,000,000. Unless you did something like cure a disease that you’re not talking about, this doesn’t seem very likely. If it is true, congratulations, but I just had to toss my two cents into the conversation.

I received a letter from Harvard admission office saying that I should send them my best work in subject I am interested in. They also say they will somehow conduct an interview with me over Skype (I’m international). Is this a usual thing?
