I'm a current freshman undergrad at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and I don't really like it. I'm not that happy here. I don't really like the atmosphere and it's extremely tough. I do have a circle of friends here and I do study hard, but I barely manage to pull off Bs. My first semester is nearly over and I'll probably br looking at a 2.9 or 3.0 gpa. When I was choosing where to attend college, my choice came down to UofM and MSU and I choose UofM based sole on prestige, which was dumb looking at it now because there are so many other factors.

During high school, I really enjoyed accounting and was looking at a career in that, but Ross doesn't have an accounting program and the chances of me getting into Ross are nearly zero. I'm not a lazy kid. I had a 4.0+ in high school with 8 AP classes and got a 4 or 5 on the 7 AP tests I took and I got a 29 on the ACT.

If my gpa was roughly a 3.0 when I submit my transfer application, will I have a good chance of enrolling in Fall 2012? I was admitted this fall but chose Umich instead as a high school senior.

I think you still have a good shot at MSU. Especially since your HS grades are going to be weighted more at this point. I still encourage you to send in your application :)

MSU sounds more fun than UM-AA. But Ann Arbor is nicer though, right?

Ann Arbor is more of a “college town.” The city itself is intertwined within the campus and it’s pretty nice. The campus of MSU is much larger.

Or I mean like, you could always wait until the year is over to decide if you want to transfer to MSU? You might really like UM-AA. Plus, you might get into Ross…it’s still too early to tell…you’re only in your first semester…but whatever floats your boat, I guess.

I’ve always thought that UM-AA was larger lol.

SO what makes you think you will like MSU?

I like the overall atmosphere at MSU better. The students are more friendly and there is a better social atmosphere. I’ve been up there a few times including fall break and I just like it better. I’m not saying Michigan has a non-existent social scene, I just don’t like a majority of the people. I just don’t really like Michigan. Additionally, I wanted to major in accounting out of high school and chose Michigan in case I decided that I didn’t want to because Michigan was ranked so high in other programs, but I realized that I really do want to do accounting and MSU has a good program for it.

1- You’re very shallow. Lol, I know these schools well since I have spent more than a couple days at each of them and there is almost no difference of students at UM and MSU. UM and UMiami, yes there is but not at UM and MSU.

2- You do know that accounting requires a pre-business track. You need to be in Ross or Broad to do accounting. Your second half of the paragraph is incoherent. MSU accounting better than UM? Thats not the case the last time I checked.

I never said it had a better program, I said it had a good program. I know Ross is better and I know it’s a nationally known business school. I know I would have to apply to Broad as well. Also, there is a difference. The kids at UM are honestly more stuck-up and rude in my experience. Are there nice kids? Yes, but I honestly can’t stand a majority of them. At UM, Greek life dominates and it’s really annoying. I feel like I fit in with the students better at MSU because they are more social and I honestly like the school better. You cannot be serious by saying the students are the same. MSU is basically a state school. UM is a state school too, but it has that “public ivy” reputation so all the kids that go here automatically think they are better than the world. I go here. I know. I’m not shallow.

■■■■■ at dollarbill u dumb ***** i cant believe that you think you are some all knowing expert on MSU and U of M clearly your dumb A$$ goes to central or eastern or even more like some CC. The students at U of M clearly come into college much more sheltered and therefore turn into complete tools unlike the kids at MSU. As for SayWhatSayYea, I would definately recommend transferring as you will enjoy yourself much more at MSU. But then again according to “Mr. Irrelevant education” the kids are the exact same at both so I guess it doesnt matter what you choose to do. Dumb Mother *****er needs to spend a little bit more time at each school to make these conclusions. I would recommend a semester or 2 but there is no way he could get into either of them so just ignore that wannabe.
