I found this thread very inxteresting. Was it ever discussed which exact pre-college camp this situation came from? I am looking into programs for next summer and would like to know.

And from my stand point...yes...an actor will be called on in their career to do all kinds of things..including things they don't like. Forcing a child who is still in their formative years to do things they are not comfortable with is not a good thing. We are talking about a young teen girl here...not a 25 year old college grad who has experienced life. There is a big difference.

It all comes down to how this situation was addressed to the actors. Did they know about this going into the show? Just because the work is "new" and "edgy" doesn't mean that the actors should be forced to do something they are uncomfortable with at this stage in their life. Just because someone is not doing "Sound of Music" doesn't mean they should be forced to do soemthing that they are not ready to do and..more importantly..commit to.
