Hi. I'm in a bit of a pinch so hopefully I can quickly get some helpful information here before my next counselor visit.

I'm planning on transferring from a CC to a UC or CSU next fall. I have already started my applications, they're due in November. I've been planning on majoring in Linguistics, though I haven't been able to nail down exactly what I would do with the degree. I'm interested in voice/speech technology, semantics, and the cognitive sides of language. I don't speak more than one language, though I've seen that that isn't a requirement in most instances.

This semester, I've been taking a communications course. At first I thought I liked it because the professor is very energetic, but I realized that I'm also very interested in many of the topics. I've always been fascinated by the study of body language, as well as stuff like detecting whether a person is lying. I also just watched a documentary on body language and was completely enthralled with it. I'm also very into public relations, I really like looking at politicians and how they handle themselves in public. I'm sure my friends and family might laugh if I suggested I wanted to be a Comm Major since I'm not very socially adept nor am I very good at giving out good body language, but the field interests me.

Looking at my interests, I would think my ideal major would be somewhere in between the two, but I'm starting to think Communications might be a better choice. Can anyone offer some advice? Obviously, this is a very bad time to be thinking of flipping majors with my transfer applications due in the near future, but better now than after I've been accepted and can't change.

Thanks for the help!
