I'm interested in majoring in linguistics, but I honestly don
t know where to start looking. I'm a high school junior at the top of my class ... and apparently I'm very bad at research. Could anyone please point towards prestigious schools with outstanding linguistics programs?

And if anyone knows any off the top of their heads, can anyone point me towards schools with good Romance languages and East Asian langauges majors?

My alma mater, McGill, appears to be highly ranked; as a bonus, French language or lit classes you take there lower your tuition (that is, the tuition for those classes is the Quebec resident tuition, dirt cheap by American standard).

/not a linguistics major myself, but since you mentioned romance language majors, I thought this tidbit of information might be of interest

Sorry, you may have to enquire or double check for the lower tuition for just courses, but an Honours in French lit will allow you to apply for Quebec resident tuition.

From what I've found, many of the brand-name schools have great linguistics programs. The NRC ranking (sadly, I cannot find the US News ranking for linguistics -- I think it requires membership):

I, like you, am a junior (at the top of my class, I think, but I don't want to be too boa****l :P) and I plan on majoring in linguistics (+ psychology).
