1st of all I have the link and a few people that I have seen on threads said that they called fin aid office when they thought they forgot to send in stuff for finaid and then they were told it does not matter there for I believe that could be infered that they did not get in! I wish good luck to all, but I believe that the link would not be viewable to those who did not get in bc that would just be mean, to put a link up, send and email, and then reject those with a link which say view ur finaid award.

^ You got an email?

Also, did you submit all of your materials WELL ahead of the deadline, or pretty last minute?

I doubt it means anything. Although the alphabetical order hypothesis someone came up with above clearly doesn’t hold, its probably just some other upload problem.

Anyway, I submitted the CSS really late, and a friend submitted it before me, so it can’t be in order of aid application either. What makes me sure of this not being indicative of anything is that a friend and I applied from our school, and mine has the link and his doesn’t, but he’s a sure admit and I’m not. My credentials are nowhere near what Amherst requires, and his CV has everything I have (and better) as well as tons more, along with all the academic excellence, passion, blah blah.

^ You never know what Amherst is looking for, though…

I thought about that, but when I mean my friend is better, I mean he has EVERYTHING I have to a greater extent, and more. I’m pretty sure he’s in, and I might be on the borderline. :D

Just curious, are either of you guys URMs?

Both international. Can you have URM and ORM (heh) internationals? Like would far east internationals be ORMs?

If they are, he’s an ORM.

Like… Asian?

Asian is…broad. We’re both Asian, technically speaking, but I’m south Asian (Indian subcontinent) and he’s Korean. I’m guessing he’ll be counted from the South Asian pool because he attended school here?

Sorry, I just have a hard time believing that anyone who’s not a legacy/recruited athlete is a, “sure admit.”

Haha. I didn’t mean it that way; I just mean he has a really high chance.

I should be more choosy with my words, I see.

High chance based on… his stats?

The whole argument here was that the link reflects whether you’d gotten in or not. I’m just saying he’s more likely to be in than me, but doesn’t have the link.

Oh. Okay. Sorry, I’m just… not feeling great about this whole link business.

Nah. I have slightly higher stats, I think. Based on the depth of his ECs, his reputation with teachers and his essays.

My Amherst finally showed something different when I logged in today but the message is just:
2010: Application Complete
The current requirements for your 2010 aid application are complete.
instead of giving me a link to a financial aid award or any of that. I have a bad feeling about this…

^ Weirrrrrrrd. Better than me… I don’t have any links…

Still no change. Don’t know what to make of it, although I obstinately refuse to believe this is any sign at all.
We’ll know in 27 hours now, so I guess there’s really not much point in debating.

I don’t think it means much!
=D
Hahah I never thought I’d be the stereotypical CC lunatic who finds things snooping around but…
https://fadata.amherst.edu/NetPartnerStudent/PgHome.aspx

You should be able to login with your info and see what documents have been received. Oh and guess what, it says what most people say appears on their MyAmherst.
"Welcome to the Amherst College Office of Financial Aid student portal. Using the portal, you may –
- Check the status of your application
- View a list of documents we’ve received from you and those still outstanding
- View your financial aid award "

For some reason NONE of my documents have been received(even though I sent the CSS profile quite a while back). My assumption is that those whose document have been received(and updated into the Amherst system recently) got a link on their My Amherst. Those whose documents are still processing for whatever reason, have yet to receive the aid link on their main page.

Mystery solved?

And yes I know the next outcry will be. “Maybe they didn’t process our applications because they only update the ones who get accepted”, but to me that just seems far fetched. I’m pretty sure they are just late at updating the info electronically(it is their first year all).
