<p>General Advice: If you are not on LinkedIN, get on now. Learn how to use it. It is the best networking tool you can possibly have. A virtual online resume with your contacts and your contacts contacts.</p>

<p>Tip 1: Once you make a profile, go to "Profile" and "edit" your public profile address. This way, when you e-mail people you can give them the e-mail address to your online resume and won't have a long e-mail address. You can even put it on your resume, chances are your future employeer is googling your name any way.</p>

<p>I second this. It's facebook for the professional world.</p>

<p>For entry-level/college grad jobs, it's not that useful... networking directly through alumni tends to get a better response</p>

<p>but it is a good way to stay in touch and call upon your network in the future</p>
