List of ECs

<p>So I was just wondering, how important is the order in which one lists his/her ECs on the Common App?</p>

<p>I have two major ECs, and I can't decide which to put first. One is a major research project I've been involved with at a local university. This research is almost ready for publication, and the area of research (it deals with cancer and stem cell research, with a heavy emphasis on molecular biology - that's really all I can say) is particularly hot at the moment, and we expect to publish in a reputable journal (like Science, Nature, etc.). For my second EC, I am the president of youth volunteers at a local hospital, and my job is to supervise the volunteer program (typically including around 100-200 volunteers at any given time). Both of these ECs are extremely important to me, and I can't decide which to put "first".</p>

<p>Any input?</p>

<p>I don’t think it matters too, too much. I really doubt you’d get rejected anywhere because you put one of those activities first. It would probably matter if you put something like a school club way above either of those.</p>

<p>Anyway… I’d probably go with the research that you’ve been involved with.</p>
