List of enginneering colleges

U really want to do engineering but my SAT scores are not that high. I know that I’m a very good math student based on my coursework in school, but for whatever reason the SAT is not teally my thing. What schools can I get into for engineering with an 1860 SAT score? I have a 630 in math, a 630 in writing and a 600 in reading. My GPA is 3.7, but I’ve never got less than a A in any math or science class. I’m from NY, but I’d be willing to go down south or to the Midwest if the school feels right. What schools can I get into? Thanks!

I want to do the engineering program, not you. Haha.

You may want to look at Iowa State; a respected school in Eng. that you likely could gain admission.

Your scores are not too bad. You should look at Wisconsin-Madison, U Maryland-College Park, U Minnesota-Twin Cities, Ohio State, and RPI. Iowa State is also a great school. There are probably several good engineering schools in NY but I am only familiar with RPI.

Besides RPI, you have Drexel, RIT, Stevens, Clarkson, and WPI to name a few, with RPI, Stevens, and WPI probably being the hardest to get into.

You may want to take the ACT to see if you’ll score higher.

Buffalo and Albany would be less expensive than all those schools. Can you afford OOS schools?

Thanks guys! This is really helpful. I can afford out of state schools. Obviously, the cheaper the better, but if it feels right, I would be more than happy to go out of state. I looked at Buffalo and liked it, but it might be little bit of a reach for the engineering program. Also, I know that it would also be easy for me to get into an engineering program such as Dayton where I would probably be able to even get a scholarship. But all of the schools that you guys listed appear to be a little better for engineering, so I will definitely look at all of them.

I wouldn’t look down on UD’s engineering programs. They have long running relationships with the Air Force Research Laboratories for internships.

What kind of engineering? I am planning to go to Wichita State University in Kansas myself; they have a pretty string program in aerospace engineering (and a good NMF scholarship, lol.) Plus it’s easy to get into - it has a 96% acceptance rate, so the scores don’t matter too much. OOS tuition’s about $15,000.

If you know what field you want, look up the Wikipedia list of all the colleges in the US that offer degrees in that. Go to each school’s website and find approximate costs and admittance requirements, and any other information you want, and sort out some options from there.
