List of Helpful EC's

I know this area of CC isn't exactly teeming with people, but I think it'd be fantastic to gather a list of specific, high school EC's that could help with admissions.

For example, some that I know of:

National Youth Leadership Forum for Medicine in Chicago

CYLC for Medicine Conference (DC, I believe)

Obviously, and volunteer work in the health field.

Excuse me while I run to the doctor, I think my eyes got stuck when I rolled them as hard as I could.

For college admissions you say?

NYLF and CYLC probably wont help at all. To be they are a waste of money and time.

It's always good to volunteer at a hospital I guess, but that's becoming very common. Certainly won't hurt though.

Physician Shadowing and Research. And reference letters from them.

Just curious, but what kind of volunteer work do hospitals allow you to (legally) do? As far as I've heard, they mostly stick you in work shops. Any roles that can allow you to observe and learn?

question: if you are related to someone who is a doctor, can you shadow them or do some sort of unofficial independent study and put that on your resume? (close relative is radiologist)

Sure, so long as you get credit from that hospital in some kind of written form.

If you're talking about admissions to med school, don't worry too much about it - they won't accept any EC's that you did in high school anyway.
