List of Stanford-Berkeley Rivalries

What are all of things/events that Stanford/Berkeley compete in?

I have heard of

The Big Game
The Big Sweep
The Big Hack
The Big Sail

Who has advantage in each of the competitions?

OP. Are you a high school student or a soon to be a college student? If you are a soon to be a college student which school are you attending? It’s hard to tell looking at your other questions and threads…whether you are a high school student or soon to matriculate at a “certain” college…

…living here in the Bay-area for many years now and having friends who are Stanford and Berkeley grads and having personal connections to Stanford…I can tell you honestly Stanford students only consider The Big Game (football game) each year as the only thing they really consider a rivalry with Berkeley…they really don’t care about anything else to be honest…

…moreover, I have friends who are Harvard grads who similarly only consider Yale as a rival for The Game (football game) and nothing else.

…for the big picture… Stanford considers Harvard and Harvard considers Stanford as its true academic/college/professional school/PHD/exclusivity/reputation/prestige RIVAL…because they are so similar in every aspect of comparisons…

…so, please stop the Berkeley comparisons…it is not fair since it is a public institution under the government’s GRIP.

thank you for responding. im actually going to harvard as an undergrad in the fall, but i am just looking at some more information on my other choice (Berkeley with full ride + regents scholarship benefits). i’m regretting a little, but i know there’s nothing i can do about it; and i know harvard isn’t at all a bad choice. its nice to know what is on the other side though.

Be happy…have no regrets. You can always get another crack at Stanford or Berkeley for engineering graduate school…and you will always have friends at Stanford…so, go and enjoy the remaining summer!

Given their rivalry, one of the things I was surprised by when I worked at Stanford was the huge amount of research collaboration going on between Stanford and Cal.
