I ranked them by quality of academics. Swat has academics that I percieve as better than UPenn for undergrad. Bryn Mawr and Haverford are tied because they are essentially like one school. Students cross register and share facilities. To be honest, I think Bucknell and Lehigh have good academics, but lack in a lot of other areas and people fail to see that. They have incredibly homogenous student populations, not the best locations, and they’re party schools, yet people in PA are more familiar with Bucknell/Lehigh than Swat, Haverford, and Bryn Mawr. Also by U.S. news rankings all the schools in the quaker consortium are ranked higher.

^would Nova make the list? I would say it beats out Lehigh and Lafayette.

Gee, this thread rose back from the dead (or at least 2006).

Here is a couple of takes. Please note my absolute obsession with ranking schools

Florida:

UF & UM Tie (UF bigger, more programs, SSobick’s Press Releases. UM: More selective, private and can Hugh Hefner be wrong?)

Rollins (parent2noles posting in 10, 9, 8…)

FSU (T.K. Wetherall leaves, ya gotta shot at Rollins…if looking like Daisy Duke becomes more stylish than looking like an Abercrombie ad)

USF & UCF Tie (Yeah, USF thinks BCS, UCF thinks SAT)

Stetson (Free cologne and cool hats mean happy students)

FAU & FIU Tie (Miami-Dade and BCC’s finishing schools)

UWF & UNF (These two are loving the new GI Bill)

New College of Florida (OK, they let students graduate in Star Trek uniforms…not sniffin’ the Top 5 with that little fact)

Private college named after Florida railroad baron whose name escapes me

NWFSC: Okay, so its president is indicted…I passed a class here…Top 10 baby!

FGCU: No celebrate Christmas, no Top 10 for you…

Ohio

Kenyon: Paul Newman graduated from here

Case Western Reserve University: Everybody thinks its in Colorado, but its in Cleveland…er, maybe they can move to Colorado

Oberlin: #1 if Abbie Hoffman was making this list. Seeing as he and his former #1 Antioch are both dead, Oberlin makes #3!

Dennison or is it Denison? Oh well, another LAC for people back East who didn’t get in to Vasser

College of Wooster: Just having a name like with the abbreviation of CoW gets you into the Top 5!

OSU & MU Tie: You mean OSU is like, not just a football team for people in double wide trailers to root for? Miami is not just for snobby kids hiding out from their Chicago friends after not making it into Chicago or Northwestern? Oh…

UD and Xavier Tie: When you don’t have the grades for that other catholic school in South Bend

Ohio Wesselyn: We done with the LACs yet? Good!

UC: No points deducted for surrounding neigborhood

Ohio University: Paul Newman attended here

YSU, BGSU, Toledo, Akron KSU…The schools OSU sends money to. Somebody has to lose games so Bubba will second mortgage the double wide and keep buying OSU football tickets

WSU, CSU (Both CSUs) and Shawnee State: Hey OSU, want to play basketball?

A tie means the next number comes up, not two #26s and then we go to 28!..this isn’t some thick book you buy at Paradies while doing a 4 hour layover at JFK!

Yeah, meaningless lists are fun!

I live in Northern Virginia and most people rank UVA and W&M as the top colleges, but because not many know of W&L. At my school not many kids are high acheivers and most have VTech as their top choice (I’m not saying there is anything wrong with that) so they don’t even care about W&L even if they hear about it. Everyone knows W&M and UVA though.

Pennsylvania: (Combination of academics and college experience)

University of Pennsylvania

Carnegie Mellon University

Lehigh University

Bucknell University

Lafayette College

Franklin and Marshall

Gettyburg

Muhlenberg

Dickinson

again what about vanillanova? does it not even make the list above gettysburg?

Iowa:

Yea, needless to say, I’m going to Cali for college ;)

North Carolina

1 UNC-CH
2 Duke
3 Wake Forest
4 Davidson
5 Elon
6 App State
7 UNC-A - lower if you cant stand hippies
8 UNC-W
9 WCU
10 ECU
11 tie UNC-Charlotte/UNC-Greensboro

*379 and 391–Okay , you do not mention Colgate.

Then compare Colgate stats to your top 4-10 scores, (higher average sat and gpa scores, higher everything.)

Colgate is a target for Investment Banking firms. Colgate is way above NYU. U of R, Fordham, any SUNY’s and Union.

It is completely ridiculous to not include Colgate in your top 10. It should be in your top- 3!!

GA

Emory

GT

UGA

GA State

Spelman

Morehouse

Valdosta

GCSU

Southern

Clark Atlanta
