Listing Athletic Participation

Hello. It appears that the Common App drop down under athletics asks for JV/Varsity Participation. My daughter will have played basketball for all four years of high school and it has required a tremendous amount of time and effort. However, the first year she played it was for the “Freshman Basketball Team”. The second year she was moved up to JV and is currently playing at the Varsity level. Can she click on all four year, 9 - 12 as playing basketball under athletics? Or can she seriously not list the four year commitment because of her Freshman team status the first year she played ball? All the teams in the high school compete against other high schools in the area and it was not a club or a non-athletic activity.

Under Position/Leadership description and organization, if the Freshman Basketball Team activity is sort of a JV-level sport even though not explicitly stated, I would say “JV (9,10) and Varsity (11,12).”

I wanted to put all my soccer activities under one list, so I used the same approach and said “Club (9) and Varsity (10, 11, 12)”
