Listing awards on both activities section and awards section of MIT app?

The activities section of the MIT application asks applicants to " include any leadership positions held and honors won" for their activities.

But later in the application, applicants are asked to “list any scholastic (and later nonscholastic) distinctions” they have won.

Most of the awards (scholastic and nonscholastic) that I’ve won are associated with my extracurricular activities. For example, I qualified for the AIME, something that I associate with math team.

Should I list these awards in both parts of the application, or only one of them?

I think you can put that you were part of the team as in activities section.

And put that Qualified for AIEM in the distinctions statement.

For me when I was doing mines, I was given the captains position and qualified to compete in nationals l so what I did was put “Captain - Team” and “Finalist- Championship”. I am not sure what exactly the activity or the distinction but yes from what I did you may be able to?

I actually asked this exact question to the MIT AO’s. They said that they don’t want to read repeats. Find the place where the activity fits best and put it there.

Thanks. I decided to provide slightly more detailed descriptions of my activities in the activities section and instead list my awards in the distinctions section.
