literature SAT II

did anyone else do this? how did u find it???

i did, i had trouble with the poems

Anybody know how many you can get wrong on lit and still get 800? (US according to sparknotes you only need 82 out of 90 to have 800 but I couldn't find lit and I know the percentiles on it are way tougher).

I don't know what the curve is like, but I didn't think it was too bad. Except, what was the answer to the question about the meaning of "patronized" (from the passage about the politician)? I narrowed it down to "bought frequently" and "supported partially". I ended up choosing the latter as what the author probably meant, though it would have been funnier with the first denotation.

i chose supported partially, but im not sure if its right

posting poems from the test.

TO MY LADY E.C. AT HER GOING OUT OF ENGLAND
by John Suckling

I MUST confess, when I did part from you,
I could not force an artificial dew
Upon my cheeks, nor with a gilded phrase
Express how many hundred several ways
My heart was tortur'd, nor, with arms across,
In discontented garbs set forth my loss:
Such loud expressions many times do come
From lightest hearts: great griefs are always dumb.
The shallow rivers roar, the deep are still;
Numbers of painted words may show much skill:
But little anguish and a cloudy face
Is oft put on, to serve both time and place:
The blazing wood may to the eye seem great,
But 'tis the fire rak'd up that has the heat,
And keeps it long. True sorrow 's like to wine:
That which is good does never need a sign.
My eyes were channels far too small to be
Conveyers of such floods of misery:

And so pray think; or if you 'd entertain
A thought more charitable, suppose some strain
Of sad repentance had, not long before,
Quite empti'd for my sins that wat'ry store:
So shall you him oblige that still will be
Your servant to his best ability.

i retook lit today..and i thought it was WAYYY harder than the january one... i felt really unsure about a lot of answers...

It was hard to look for all of those literary devices in the poems.

i thought it was really really difficult today. i wasnt expecting anything easy but this was ridiculous...and to add to that my english teacher was the proctor.

i kind of struggled through the prose passages which isnt a good sign and i think i made my way pretty well through the poetry. with the curve what's the raw score you need to get 600?

The poems beat the hell outta me. Iambic Pentameter? I haven't done that since 7th grade, ahhh!!!

^ yea those q's threw me off.

I actually don't think i did too badly, I guessed well in regards to the overall tone of the passage.

Maybe high 700's...btw i said supported partially
