The SAT II Literature test is allegedly "ridiculously hard".
Is it really that difficult to get a decent score (730+ish range), and is there a generous curve due to its level of difficulty?

I took it in January and found some parts rather difficult, other parts less so. If you are confident in your ability to read critically, then take it. The average for the Lit test is lower than any other subject test, and I’ve heard there’s a nice curve

It was my worst standardized test. I think it requires a little different thinking, and I didn’t study for it except for the day before so I would definitely recommend more preparation. Just my anecdotal evidence, but I felt the lit test required a different type of thinking, even from all the other reading/writing/verbal sections. But if you prep for it you should be able to do well.

All you need is prep!

Really. Once you’re used to it it’s not hard at all.

I hate the SAT II Lit test with a passion. I 800’d SAT I CR, 5’d both AP English exams, but couldn’t get a score above the low 700’s on Lit.

But, the caveat is that I went in thinking I was the Lit king, so I didn’t study for it at all. I think this is a common problem with the Lit exam. If you study and take a few timed practices, I’ll bet you can do well.
