This morning I volunteered at the National Trial Competition as a mock witness. Even as such I was a little timid on the stand. I'm starting to consider whether litigation would be worth the extra stress, or whether I would even enjoy it or be good at it.

Basically, I’m shooting for patent litigation or patent prosecution, two completely different lifestyles. I’m thinking about doing litigation only because it seems like the more difficult route, and I don’t want to cop out. I love a good challenge.

Are you suggesting that you are questioning the choice of litigation because you were nervous in court? If you go into patent litigation, you won’t get into court much. Most of your work will be writing and analyzing, not arguing in court. Patent litigation is a MUCH more exciting and dynamic field than patent prosecution. Completely different skill sets.

What is it that you are worried about with respect to litigation?
