I'm applying to Tulane EA, I've got a 4.05 GPA on a 4.33 scale taking my school's most advanced classes, with a ton of extra curriculars and two part time jobs... without getting too into it my community service is pretty week, only about 100-150 hours over my four years and most of that is like 2-3 hour one time events like setting up for a school dance. I only have two things that really stick out, a 16 hour (2 day) dental outreach program I volunteered at and a 9 hour day of teaching kids to tie dye at a fair. I know service learning is very important to Tulane, so I was wondering if this will weaken my application much? Also, I'm in a leadership program (one of my EC's) and we're doing a community service project that we are currently working on, but won't be in effect until about April. Should I include it in the application?
Any help is awesome, thank you!

I think what is more important is whether or not you can embrace community service when you are at Tulane. Tulane certainly stands out compared to most other schools in its commitment to service in New Orleans, in Louisiana, and around the world. But it is first and foremost an institution devoted to providing a very high level education. The fact that they are continually exploring ways to interweave these aspects of its mission makes it interesting and exciting, but it doesn’t mean they refuse excellent scholars that have not as of yet shown much inclination towards community service.

Just be genuine. If you truly are excited about getting involved in service and the fact that Tulane has such extensive programs that help you realize that goal, then say so. If it is not such a big deal to you, then just apply based on your scholarship and accomplishments to date. Your grades seem strong, and your 2110 SAT is also strong for Tulane. You are probably in pretty good shape to get an offer of admission, assuming all else is good.
