Little Yellow Square for Supplement!

Common Application issue…

son submitted all his applications today for the Amherst supplement it still has a little yellow square which means something is not complete. I have looked at it ten ways from sunday and the only thing I can think of is it needs to be recognized in some way by the school. It says it has been sent, but Amherst is the only school that didn’t give him a green triangle.

Who’d have thought it would all come down to colorful geometry? Has this happened to anyone else?

I applied early and the yellow square was there for a few days. Eventually it will turn green.

Yep.. turned green today! So now all we can hear around here is the jeapardy theme music that will play until April and the verdict is announced.

That's funny, Modadunn! Now I have the Jeopardy theme music in my head too.

My son is actually a freshman at Amherst this year, but my daughter has a transfer app out to a different college, so we are once again in the waiting business. ;)

Can i just say it completely bugs me that I spelled Jeopardy wrong and have no editing abilities to fix it. :(

It's kind of funny actually, S said today that he thought he'd feel a lot more relieved having finished all his applications than he actually does! All I could say was speak for yourself - although I admit to still being a little angst-ridden over the list itself (hoping it indeed has enough likely schools). Any other year, I am sure I wouldn't feel quite so freaked, but that everyone seemed shocked he was denied from Dartmouth (and not even deferred), I do feel a little nauseous.

Oh... that happened to a family I know too. Last year their son was denied (and not even deferred) ED to Dartmouth. He had a virtually perfect GPA from an elite prep school, 2300+ SAT, was a legacy, and his father was a generous donor and alum interviewer for applicants from his area. They were a bit surprised... to put it one way. Not surprisingly, dad isn't volunteering anymore to do all those interviews, and I suspect the check-writing has slowed or stalled significantly!

Their son is blissfully happy where he did end up going though.

Mine is still yellow :(

so if I submitted on the last day, they wont say it's not on time because it didnt turn green, right?!

RIGHT?!?! :(

Everything turned green today on all applications -- whch I think is a result of having received (recorded) payment. It says when you sent the application and when they downloaded it. He hit submit on the 30th, they downloaded on the 31st and payment was marked as received today! So.. I suppose beyond the school reports etc that I don't know whether they have those or not.. all of my son's college applications are in. There are no more schools with deadlines outstanding. I honestly can't believe this process is over (except for the answers of course).

What will I nag about now??? :)

Yeah.. my turned green :) Hopefully, they've received my school transcripts and recommendations because I sent those on the 15th. How long do they usually take to give us our PINs?
