Red triangles and yellow boxes with "Submitted" next to them

I submitted payments, supplements and applications for both of my Early schools. However, only applications for both schools have green triangles, and all the other parts of both schools have either yellow boxes or red triangles although all of them are seen as "submitted." Is there something wrong???

Don’t trust the images. Trust the text instead. It is known from previous years that the triangles and squares are not always accurate. They will probably switch to green in a few days

Not all my son’s yellow squares turned to green triangles after a few days. Most did turn, but not all. It does state that the info was downloaded and gives a date.

Thank you! I checked again today and all of them turned into green triangles. :)

Okay, this is REALLY weird. Until 5 minutes ago, supplement for NU was green and then it switched back to the yellow box. Gah, why is common app freaking me out…

^^ Just contact admissions and make sure that they have everything. This is what my son did.

I submitted my commonapp, supplement and payment yesterday to Penn. I initially had green for the commonapp and supplement parts and red for the payment. Now the payment is green and the supplement is yellow.

I dont think it is a big deal since it says submitted next to them, but it makes you wonder why they don’t fix it since what I hear this has been a problem in the past.

northeastmom, I am going to send an email to commonapp right now  Hope there isn’t anything wrong with my apps tho… Thank you!
ams 0909, I know :frowning: Just to make sure, I am going to check with commonapp!

Mine to Stanford did the same thing today. ARGH! I submitted everything about a week ago, including the supplement. Everything seemed fine and the colors turned green. The school even downloaded the common app and the supplement, and they are both marked downloaded. However, the supplement mark turned from green back to yellow…and I can’t find anything missing…and today’s the deadline!

*This is what common app repiled me back with to my question. So I don’t think we should be too worried about signs  Just read what the text says!

Thank you for your message, and sorry for the confusion. The status color icons on the “My Colleges” page are not updated for all components of the Common App, though our team is actively working to resolve the discrepancies. For the most current status of your Common Application, Supplement, Payment, and/or School Forms component for each institution, please refer to the text at the bottom of the “My Colleges” page next to the individual components of your Common App. The information communicated by those words (e.g., Not Started, Not Submitted, Submitted) is the most up-to-date status for your application.

this thread is amazing. i was about to get a heart attack!

From the Common App help website:

I’d like to know why the status symbols on the My Colleges page are not correct.

The colored status symbols on the My Colleges page are updated every 24 hours. If the page does not display the correct symbol, please refer only to the text next to Application/Supplement/Payments as this is the correct status of your information.

As you work through the application process, your status will change from “Not Started” to “Not Submitted” to “Submitted”. After submission, once a school has downloaded or printed your application/supplement, your status will then change to “Downloaded”. This is an indication that your form is submitted and is under review by the college. The text next to the link to each section of the application will always reflect the current status.

Please be aware that the colored status symbol for school forms (e.g., Teacher and Counselor evaluations) is not provided and is not included in the overall status for each college.

Just logged in to “application status check” for a particular college and saw that the comm app supplement was listed as a missing document even though it was previously submitted via the common app. Went to the common app site and it also showed not submitted and yellow square. It was actually submitted weeks ago along with the common app submission but never downloaded by the college. Didn’t check it daily but the rest of the app was only recently downloaded and the supplement then showed not submitted instead of changing to downloaded. What ever happened here? Just submitted it now but it shows submitted after the EA deadline. Will this affect admission chances? When the common app was submitted and payment made are you supposed to go back and submit the supplement again after this? Confused as to how this even happened…and worried about the effect it will have…

^^Perhaps the applicant can send an email to his admission’s counselor at this school to explain and get the matter cleared up.

Since this thread was started weeks ago, it should be noted that the problems have been resolved. For those of you just joining, those triangles can be very misleading. However, take note.

There should be a date that shows when the application was submitted, when the supplement was submitted, and when the payment was submitted. If a date isn’t shown, then the application was not properly submitted.
