I may be going to McGill next year and want to live off-campus. Would this be a good decision for a first-year or would it be better to experience on-campus living first? Any experience and comments?

Im going next fall and definitely living on campus. pretty much only 1st years live on campus. everyone moves off campus after first year.

wat r ur top choices for rez

Douglas and Royal Vic are my top two choices. after that Molson, Gardner, and McConnell. Then university hall and pres rez. New Rez and Carrefour. Solin and Greenbriar. MORE houses last. im pretty sure that is all of them.

Why are they ur top choices?

Mine are:

1) Carrefour
2) New Rez

everything else…

i like the sense of community that Douglas and RVC had when i visited. I am from the US, so the more traditional dorms appeal to me because that is what i am used to seeing. Hotels don’t really appeal because there are so many people, and i think i would feel like that i am always just visiting or something.

ok… my question wasn’t answered.
so, again. Good or bad idea to live off campus for first-year. Will I be missing out on making friends and having the dorm experience?

live on campus for sure! you would definitely miss out on making friends if you lived off campus by yourself first year.

Why do you want to live off campus? Living in a residence will make your social experience. Just live on campus…like mcgillhopeful said, basically everyone moves off campus after the first year.
