Live Poets Society of NJ Award?

Could I list this as an award in college apps? I entered a poem into one of their contests, and I got this back in an email:

"CONGRATULATIONS!

It is my extreme pleasure to inform you that our judges have selected your poem as a Topical Winner in our 10th Annual National High School Poetry Contest covering the 2007/2008 school year. That's right, your poem! The one that was recently returned to you with the address to this webpage."

"Your poem was entered into the preliminary judging for all of this year's major prizes. From this group we selected our Regional Winners and our Topical Winners. Although your poem did not place among the Regional Winners, from which the top prize winners will be selected, we would like to honor you by publishing your poem as a Topical Winner. We would also like you to know that less than 2% of all of the poems we will receive this year will be published in this anthology."

And then it goes on and on about getting it published for free or whatever.

LOL, I guess I didn't win a regional award...should I even bother listing this as an award?

Why not? Being a part of that "less that 2%" is still very impressive. Listing the award as "Topical Award" doesn't necessary reveal that you DIDN'T win a higher award, anyway.

I guess. I don't know if I buy into the less than 2% statistic...my poem was horrible. It's funny because I hate poetry and even my english teacher knows that.

Oh well, it's still going to get published in a book.

did anyone else get this email???

It sounds pretty lame if the only way they've notified you was though email. If you paid an entrance fee, they ate up your money.

I didn't have to pay an entrance fee.
