Living Abroad - disadvantaged?

I'm an EA applicant (deffered) and the more I look at the "stats" of people accepted the more I see a trend of participation/placing in things like math/science olympiads, research at universities, the AIME, etc.

I'm currently living in the middle east, Jordan to be specific, and for the entirety of my high school experience I've NEVER had opportunities to showcase my abilities in the ways I mentioned before - there's just nothing like that here. I've taken all the opportunities I could get my hands on but I'm worried it just won't be enough to make me stand out.

So are applicants in situations like mine truly at a disadvantage or will MIT take that into consideration?

MIT will look at your choices and your achievements in the context of the world you are in. Definitely.
