<p>I'm going to be a freshmen and am planning on majoring in Architecture, minoring in Spanish, and taking some engineering classes. Because the architecture program is so rigorous and time consuming, I've heard that living in a community where you're with other architecture/engineering/ect students can be very helpful. However, I want to meet people outside of that group. Does anyone have any suggestions about living in the community or not?</p>
<p>Based on DD1’s experience, only about 20 hours a day are spent in the studio/classroom with other arch students, so there is plenty of time to meet people outside that group :)</p>
<p>Seriously, I’d say there is some truth to what you wrote, but in a larger school there are all kinds of opportunities to meet people. Whether one has the energy or motivation to pursue outside activities is another story. She is in an LLC but the main advantage is that she takes a couple elective classes a semester taught at her dorm (which was nicely refitted with classroom and lab space). Being an arch student, she’s never in the dorm anyway so…</p>
