They aren't my best friends but friends that i know pretty well. I wanna room with them (or rather I'm at least considering it). Good idea or bad?

Well of course you run the risk of potentially ruining your friendship if things go wrong, but it could also turn out well. I have several friends that decided to room together in doubles in the same dorm, and all wound up on the same floor. It worked out really well for them and they’re still all great friends, but based off of what I see on their facebooks, it seems like they still only hangout with each other and other people from our high school (at a public university with 40k undergrads…) so I suppose rooming with friends doesn’t exactly help you branch out either. They seem really happy though. It’s up to you to decide what exactly you want in college socially (a fresh start, guaranteed friendships, etc.) so you need to evaluate that and also how compatible you and your friends are. I know I have some very good friends who I would never be able to live with without eventually hating them. But with others I’m positive it’d work out great. It’s all dependent on your situation.
