LL out yet for 2018 committed athletes?

So have the 2018 Ivy recruits been getting their LL’s this week? If so, please specify school (and sport if you are so willing).

First batch of LLs went out last Sunday evening Oct 1. Second wave of LLs expected today.

@noanswers: Assuming they are sent via email? (No, DD is not waiting for one…just curious.)

Emails were sent informing a change in status in the student’s portal account. The actual announcement is in the school’s portal page.

Where would this announcement be found on the portal? I’m expecting to receive an LL, but not sure what the protocol is for figuring out if I’ll be getting one or not.

@FatErg On the portal there is a tab that said status. If you click on it, it will open up with the letter from the admissions committee. Also the actual likely letter gets mailed out as well, and you should receive it within a week.

^ this is going to vary by school.

^ yes, Princeton and Harvard had their LL go out on Oct 1. Columbia and I think UPenn is during their usual ED and receiving the LL shortly after the deadline.

curious what does LL stand for? thanks.

LL = Likely Letter

Likely letter. Given by the Ivies and some d3 to certainly recruited athletes signifying that the student will be admitted if they apply ED.

From the Columbia Undgrad Admissions site:

“As determined by each institution, admissions offices may choose to advise applicants in writing of the probability of admission (e.g., likely, possible, unlikely). Such letters will have the effect of letters of admission, in that as long as the applicant sustains the academic and personal record reflected in the completed application, the institution will send a formal admission offer on the appropriate notification date.”

Got one yesterday :-bd

Excellent. Stay out of trouble and you’ll be good!

Does everyone with LL apply ED, or do some apply regular decision?

Some apply RD. From what is posted here, a lot of that may be sport dependent

In certain sports, virtually all apply ED.
