Lloyd Richards, former Dean of the Drama School at Yale, and longtime head of the Playwrights Conference at the O'Neill Center, died on Thursday. Here's the NY Times obituary:

His contributions to the American theatre are almost immeasurable. He was a great man, and will be missed.

Dr John,

God rest his soul. I was aware of his conection with August Wilson but had no idea that Raisin in the sun dates to the 50's not to mention his connection with Athol Fugards "Master Herold and the boys". What great works. Thank you for the connection to his eulogy. God rest his sole and comfort those who love him.

You're welcome, Wally. Here's another obituary, from PLAYBILL magazine. I had forgotten that he was head of the actor training program at NYU in the 60's:

A wonderful man.
