Hi Everyone,
Most everything I am hearing about LMU sounds wonderful. Other than “window dressing” for parents, are their faculty members or students there who love their faith? I know the Jesuits are accepting of everyone but what about the spiritual side? Are those who attend mass weekly in a small minority? TIA!
Hello, my daughter attends there. She was raised Catholic but was pulling away from it by the time she started at LMU. She says that religious activities and presence are there, but more for those who seek it…as in, there is presence but not pressure. I know that during move in, some students from campus ministry stopped by to introduce themselves and dropped off a flyer, very friendly and not pressuring. The pre-school camp (which probably isn’t happening this year) is run by them as well. All this to say I think that group is strong and active.
I can tell you that many of my D’s professors have a strong, visible commitment to the Jesuit tenets of service to others, and I believe that this is quite present amongst the whole school.
The number of students attending such events have dropped since transitioning to an online medium, but there is definitely a good amount of students involved in different religious activities and groups! There are so many on campus (online now) to choose from and they all get great attendance (especially when it was held in person)! And all of the teachers are respectful/supportive of faiths and there are extracurricular student representatives who are assigned to first year students to help find/recommend different events/clubs/organizations/etc. based on your interests.
