What are my chances?
I’m a freshman at Cal Poly SLO and I applied to transfer from food science to history for Loyola Marymount University. My high school grades averaged 3.8 and I got into LMU senior year but decided to go to CPSLO. I realized that CP did not offer film or the amount of liberal arts programs/overall diversity of both people and academics that I want to study and be around on a campus. My current GPA is a 2.1 because I took some bad math/science classes. My highschool GPA also shows that I was a honor student who did better in English and History classes than physics and algebra. What are my chances of getting into LMU considering I was accepted last year, my major that I’m applied for is history, and that I’m trying to transfer as a second quarter freshman? I also applied under early action.
Any speculations or advice would be appreciated!
"Students who would have been eligible for admission as freshmen to Loyola Marymount University at the time of their graduation from high school will be considered for transfer if they have at least a 3.00 cumulative average for all previous college work and at least a 3.00 average for the most recent college work attempted prior to admission.
Students who for academic reasons were not eligible for admission as freshmen at the time of their graduation from high school will be considered for transfer standing if they have completed at least the equivalent of 30 semester hours of transferable college work with at least a 3.00 cumulative average and at least a 3.00 average for the most recent college work attempted prior to admission"

If you really want to transfer to LMU, I’d suggest staying for the rest of the year at SLO and see if you’ll adjust to the environment and if you still dislike the environment then transfer as a sophomore. Only half a year at a college is not too much time to fully gauge it.
