Do you pay for undergraduate loans after graduating?
can you postpone them after grad school?
It really depends on the type of loan. Some loans require the “pay as you go”.
You need to understand your loan documents before you consider the repayment options.
What sort of loans do you mean?
The answer is…it depends on the kind of loan.
Do you plan to take loans for grad school as well? If so…the federal loans are not subsidized…and interest starts accruing the day of disbursal.
If you even could postpone your loans until AFTER grad school, the interest will just grow and grow and grow.
Why would you want to postpone payment of loans after grad school?
And anyway…really, once your payment grade period ends after you finish college…you must pick SOME replacement plan fo federally funded loans…unless you are doing something like the Peace Corps or Military service where your loans will be deferred while you are serving.
For private loans, you need to read the provisions of the loan…before you take it out. In some cases, private loans become due immediately…in other words, you pay as you go. In other cases, the repayment is deferred until you graduate.
But postpone loan repayment after grad school. Not likely…and really…if you don’t think you will be able to pay those loan payments after grad school…DO NOT TAKE THE LOANS.
