Are there any available?

My background: Due to family circumstances, I did not attend college after high school. From attending community college on and off, I have about one year's worth of college credits. Now, at age 21, I can pay a substantial amount of my college bill alone, though I would still need to pay most with loans. There is no one willing to be a cosigner. My credit rating is excellent, especially considering my age.

I would like to attend a selective private college. Finances are not my first priority; attending a public college would not be a step up from my current position.

You need to run the financial aid calculators at [College Calculators - savings calculators - college costs, loans](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>How Much Will College Cost – BigFuture | College Board) By both the FAFSA and the CSS Profile methodologies, you are most likely still considered a dependent student, and your parent(s) income and assets will be taken into account. Do a bit of research on financial aid in general at [FinAid! Financial Aid, College Scholarships and Student Loans](http://www.finaid.org)

When you know what your EFC would be, then you can worry about whether or not you will need a loan, and where to find one.

That is a comment that just begs the question. What do you mean?

Because unless you have a solid explanation of that means to you, I’d suspect that your idea of what college is is way off.
