<p>my dad keeps saying that i should bring as little as possible, aka shop for toiletries, school supplies, etc in chambana during those couple of days before school starts and i see his point, but was wondering how near/far targets/walmarts/groceries were from campus</p>

<p>I think I saw a Walgreens fairly close.</p>
<p>they are very close in my opinion. from UIUC, they're just a mile or two north or so near the mall. they have a meijer, linens and things, Target, and a whole bunch of places you can just do last minute shopping for your dorm.</p>
<p>This is a good idea in general, but keep in mind that 5,000 other freshmen are planning to do the same thing, so don't plan on buying things like computer stuff (ethernet cards, cables) or anything else that might sell out quickly, because it will. The weekend before move-in, the local Walmart is going to be a zoo.</p>

and to im_blue, that is a very good point so for those of us who get to move in early looks like we get first dibs. :)</p>
