Wanted to mention to any parents considering an on campus visit that The Inn at Ohio Northern is an on campus hotel that is extremely nice. We always stay there when visiting. I am pretty sure that if you mention you are there for a tour and visit, you will receive a discount. There is also a small restaurant within the hotel. There are hotel choices in Lima which is about a 15 minute drive from campus.

I can second that Inn at Ohio Northern is a nice hotel to stay in. We stayed there while visiting the campus.

Where does one fly in and should one rent a car while there ? considering a visit next month. Also, is the training rigorous?

Yes - you fly into a nearby airport. We flew into Columbus, which is about an hour and a half away. So you will need a car to get to Ada, OH as there is no public transportation there.

You may also want to check rates in and out of Detroit (DTW), which may have better rates being a larger city and Delta hub. The drive from the Detroit airport to Ada would be about 30-35 minutes longer than the drive than Columbus, and except for the last few miles all interstate.

My D attends Otterbein, not ONU, but we have found it’s almost always a lot cheaper to fly into Dayton than Columbus if we are renting a car. Obviously if it’s just her by herself we fly her to Columbus because it’s a lot closer.

We have done both the Columbus and Dayton airports and for us it is a much easier drive to fly into Dayton. The school is straight north on I-75 and very easy drive. The distance is about the same as Columbus but we found much more accesible and better roads. ONU does provide shuttles for students to the airports just FYI.

You are right tracyvp. We found very reasonable flights from Dayton. Just have to rent a car to drive form there to Ada. Excited for the visit!
